    What are the regulations for importing milk or cream?

    The Federal Import Milk Act requires an FDA permit for milk and cream (including sweetened condensed milk) imported into the United States. Information regarding how to obtain a permit is discussed in the Import Milk Act, 21 USC 141-149. This data, together with the permit request, should be directed to:Food and Drug Administration Regulations and Enforcement Branch Division of Program and Enforcement Policy (HFS-306) 200 C Street S.W. Washington, DC 20204 Milk and cream importations are subject to Quota.  Please see CBP web site for up to date information on fill levels. Importations are also subject to regulations of APHIS, Dept. Agriculture.  All commercial imports of food and beverage products require the filing of Prior Notice with FDA, and foreign manufacturers and/or distributers of food products must register with the FDA before their goods may be admitted for resale.
